چکیده
Multivalency is a feature common to many natural glycoconjugates, including glucosaminoglycans, mucins, and lipopolysaccharides. Multivalent ligands often bind avidly to their target receptors. In addition, they can simultaneously bind multiple receptors and cause them to become clustered (Fig. 1). Receptor clustering by multivalent ligands modulates the cell adhesion and signaling functions of many carbohydratebinding proteins, including galectins and selectins. Not all clusters, however, are equivalent in signaling potency or adhesion properties. Clusters that contain multiple copies of a receptor often elicit greater responses; therefore, the stoichiometry of receptor–ligand clusters can be an important determinant of activity. The relationship between stoichiometry and activity is evident in the systems that govern cellular proliferation,

متن کاملTransmission Electron Microscopy Sample Preparation of INCONEL 738 Nickel-Base Superalloy
Size, shape, volume fraction and distribution of embedded g/ phase in g phase has direct effect on strength of INCONEL alloy. Microstructure parameters of INCONEL phases are quantified from microstructure images using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Different TEM sample preparation techniques were used to study INCONEL 738 alloy microstructure for transmission electron micros...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of V2O5/SiO2 Nanoparticles as Efficient Catalyst for Aromatization 1,4 Dihydropyridines
V2O5/SiO2 nanoparticles was prepared via an one-pot sol gel method from vanadyl- acetylacetonate and tetraethylorthosilicate in refluxing MeOH, followed by calcination at 700 °C for 2 hours. The resultant nanoparticles was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), TGA and FTIR techniques. Rapid and efficient ar...
متن کاملSynthesis and Structural Characterization of Bi2O3 Loaded on the MCM-41 and Study of Its Photocatalytic Performance in Degradation of Methylene Blue
In this work, we report synthesis and characterization of Bi2O3 nanoparticles loaded on mesoporous MCM-41 nanoparticles by a simple solid-state dispersion (SSD) method. Monoclinic bismuth oxide nanoparticles were prepared by polyacrylamide gel method and used as loading materials on the prepared mesoporous MCM-41 as a supporting material. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray p...
